WOW,time flies when you're having fun!

Yeah, right! So much has happened since October '09 when I posted last I think I will just go to random thoughts.

I have learned how to sit and wait. Nothing special, just waiting. I'm usually waiting on my baby boy, either waiting with him or waiting on him.

I've become the consumate waiting mom.

Don't bother to entertain me or make me comfortable, I'm used to it. I sit.....and wait.

I spent 17 days sitting on hard chairs and cold hallway floors at Ben Taub while he was in NICU. I've spent months sitting, standing, leaning, while he was going to therapy or getting tested...while he was getting better.

Today I sat and waited while he talked with the counselor in the Students with Disabilities department at Lone Star College. Yup, my baby is going back to college. Something I never would have dreamed that he would do so soon after his accident, if ever. I cannot believe he has come this far in just eight months.

I'm sure I've got a lot of sitting and waiting ahead of me but today...was the best...a beginning, an ending and a continuation of our life before.

Life is good!

When parents become your kids

I've been caring for my parents now for a month.

I quit my job, left my home and moved in with them. It really wasn't such a hard decision since I was visiting for the weekend so I could oversee the roofing on their house. That Saturday I put my dad in the hospital because his bladder was bleeding again (that's a whole 'nother story) and my mom fell on Sunday and broke her pelvis.

What was I supposed to do......leave on Monday?

Both parents got out of the hospital on Tuesday.... fun stuff

Of course both sisters have such busy lives and important jobs that they couldn't come to take my place soooooooo

I've been here for a month.

In that month dad has been in and out of the hospital three times.

I'm tired....

And he wants me to join the bass club

I like to fish…let me rephrase I love to fish…always have. I grew up in South Texas and I used to go fishing with my dad as a kid whenever his fishing buddy couldn’t go. We had a cabin in the Laguna Madre that we went to all the time when I was a kid and fished off of the pier.
I love it, being on the water, lazily drifting along, daybreak or sunset, all day it doesn’t matter, it is so relaxing. This past fall I started fishing with BG whenever he was home and wanted to go fishing and no one else was around.

This summer we entered a husband/wife bass tournament with his fishing club and I caught the 4th largest fish of the day, out of about 300 fisherpeople. I whipped his ass, he didn't catch a single keeper.

Sooooo he's been yakking about me fishing with him in tournaments and joining the Oilman’s Bass Club. I don't want to be in the Bass Club, it's call OilMANS for a reason, there are NO women.........

BG called me today, from the road - he's headed for the valley and guess what! I am now the first female member of the Bass Club. The pressure is on, so much for lazily drifting along, relaxing and catchin' some rays...now I gotta seriously fish!

A day in the life of a poor college kid.

Last week BMB called me and said "Mom I met the cops today." dead.silence.
He chuckled "no not THAT way"……well you never know with him…..he does have a warrant out for his arrest since he "forgot" to pay his traffic ticket.

Anyway, that’s another story.

What he really meant was that the cops stopped by the house that he is fixing up. They wanted to meet the new "tenants". For a little background - You see he is a freshman in college and ran across this "great deal" for a rent house. All he had to do was help fix it up and he wouldn’t have to pay a deposit and the rent is only $300. a month. With three guys living there that makes his part $100.. He is a bit of a tightwad….okay maybe more than a bit.

Well, there is a reason for the rent being so low, a few of the biggest reasons would be, no heating and a/c and as the cops put it, "ya’ll are really brave to move into this neighborhood". Great. This is my baby….my headstrong, stubborn, independent baby.

BG and I went this weekend to check things out. It's really not that bad...at least not as bad as I had imagined it. Yeah the neighborhood is kinda run down but it is one of those neighborhoods that is getting cleaned up. The house has beautiful hardwood floors and a beautiful yard with HUGE Pecan trees that totally shade his house. The house.....well it needs some work and , well, I think I will leave it at that. BMB and his bud that is moving into one of the rooms just had to stay there Sunday night and they were a bit cold, they had a small space heater and an electric blanket a piece...Oh, well, they are young.

And to think he moved out of the nicest dorm on campus - private bedroom, only shared his common area and bathroom with one roommate that was never there, three squares a day, plus snacks, covered parking….you get the picture.

I'll post pics later
